Charlotte, Vermont – DR Power Equipment, a subsidiary of Generac Holdings Inc., a manufacturer of professional grade, outdoor power equipment recently acquired Mean Green Products, the established leader in the battery-electric commercial electric lawn mower industry.
As the northeast sales representative for Mean Green Products since 2016, Eco-Equipment Supply based in Charlotte, Vermont has played a pivotal role in expanding the market for Mean Green lawn mowers in Vermont. “This acquisition is further proof that electric mower technology has achieved performance parity with gas-powered mowers. And since DR Power Equipment is one of Vermont’s most iconic brands, it’s particularly exciting that these two leading-edge companies have joined forces to expand the use of high-performance, battery-electric mowers both in Vermont and worldwide,” said Steven Wisbaum, owner of Eco-Equipment Supply.
Matt Bieber, President of DR Power Equipment commented “Entering the electric zero-turn mower category has been a target of ours for years. We have watched the Mean Green team grow and develop new products and technologies, which led to us to aggressively pursue them to become part of our portfolio.” Bieber continued, “Mean Green products will supplement our expanding battery powered chore products and strategically drive us to integrate and develop new battery powered solutions.”
The increased adoption of battery-electric mowers and lawn care tools for commercial and residential use will help Vermonters reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce noise pollution, and improve air quality. To that end, under Vermont’s Renewable Energy Standard, 16 of Vermont’s 17 electric utilities now offer incentives for both commercial and residential electric lawn mowers to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and their associated greenhouse gas emissions. The Vermont State Employees Credit Union (VSECU) also recently began offering low interest financing for battery-electric lawn mowers.
There are now also eight commercial lawn care businesses in Vermont using Mean Green mowers to provide electric mowing services to hundreds of residential and commercial property owners throughout the state. Mean Green mowers are also now used by the City of Burlington, Dartmouth College, the VT Department of Forestry, Parks and Recreation, the Ten Stones homeowners association, and numerous residential customers.
